We have very dedicated, qualified and passionate staff and maintain a very high ratios of staff to resident – during daytime we have 1 carer for every three residents.

Our staff are highly trained in the care of older people, with training being delivered both in the home and externally.

Shona MacDonald

Manager

Shona qualified and went straight into nursing homes and loves it! She has worked in nursing homes for over 13 years now and has a great passion for looking after residents with dementia and at end of life.

 

She also loves making sure that the home looks after their families and friends and the dedicated staff too.

 

Shona says “I love working at Braeburn, its small and very much our resident’s home. I am so proud of the staff and the amazing job they do each and every day!”.

Joanne Primrose

Deputy Manager

Joanne began working in the community. She did her nurse training at Napier University,  and has been a nurse for over 21 years. She has over 13 years experience of working in a few nursing homes in Edinburgh and the Lothians, working with frail, elderly residents, many whom have a diagnosis of Dementia.

She has lots of experience with looking after people at the end of their life.

Jo moved to Braeburn Home in April 2023 and says “it’s a privilege to be working in Braeburn Home and I feel part of the Braeburn family already. I am proud to say that all our residents receive individual person centred care from our staff”.

Registered Nurse & Clinical Lead

Roge finished his nursing studies in the Philippines in 1993. 2003 when he came over to UK and start working in care home setting.

He has worked in various care home in Edinburgh for the past 15 years and also worked in WGH for 2 years – mainly in the Medicine of the Elderly, and decided to stay here at Braeburn as his permanent place to work.

Roge says that working here in Braeburn has been a privilege and a joy for him. Residents and relative has been very appreciative of the care that has been rendered and offered to our residents.

Registered Nurse & Clinical Lead

Nena joined Braeburn Home in 2013 as a Care Assistant. While working at Braeburn Home, she was attending University for her Adult Nursing Degree which she completed in 2010. Since then she has been working as a Staff Nurse at Braeburn Home. Nena says “Braeburn Home has always been a part of me and It is my pleasure to work in a place as homely as Braeburn Home. Though working in a Care Home is demanding and challenging, I find that caring for our residents is incredibly rewarding. It is my pleasure to be a part of Braeburn Family!”

Work With Us

All new staff complete a full induction programme and are supported through training for their role.

We look for enthusiastic, motivated and friendly people to join our team. We are always looking for bank staff in all areas of the home, nursing, domestic, kitchen, care or office. This gives you the flexibility to choose shifts when available.
